Roma contro i Germani.
La Guerra Cimbrica
Eight-hundred thousand men, women and children, were forced to leave their home land due to a natural disaster, entire families, an entire population...

The book deals with the Roman army's bloody pushback against a multitude of Germanic, Celtic-Germanic and Helvetic migrants that invaded the Gauls (Nabonne, Cisalpine). The migrants were mighty warriors, armed and equipped for war, traveling in the company of women, old people and children.
The mass migration started around 120 BC in Jutland and along the Wadden sea coast (the coast along the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, in front of the Frisian islands). After only two decades they had affected half of Europe, massacring, pillaging, repeatedly engaging in armed confrontations, and annihilating two legionary armies.

After only two decades they had affected half of Europe, massacring, pillaging, repeatedly engaging in armed confrontations, and annihilating two legionary armies.
Ultimately, led by Gaio Mario and Quinto Lutazio Catulo, with the collaboration of Lucio Cornelio Sulla, the culminating point of the Roman military operations were two large battles: Aquae Sextiae (Aux-en-Provence, in southern France) and Raudine Plain (Northern Italy, the exact location is unknown).
The battles led to the extermination of the Cimbri, the Teutons and the Ambrones which in turn deterred the Tigurini from descending into Italy from the Eastern Alps and initiating war on the Romans.
