"Prima delle piramidi" (Before the Pyramids) is an update and continuation of my previous work, "Sovrani predinastici egizi"(Predynastic Egyptian Sovereignty). These books are among the only books written in Italian on the topic of Predynastic Egyptian, a time when there were not yet pyramids or grand temples, but a period in which the groundwork was being laid for the success of the Egyptian civilisation.
Part 1 of "Prima delle piramidi" is an introduction to the topic. It deals with the population growth in the Eastern Sahara which occurred between the last millennia of the Pleistocene and the first millennia of the Holocene.

The successive sections of the work illustrate the changes from the early Egyptian predynastic culture to the cultural developments in Egypt before the construction of the pyramids.
It focuses on the material culture, spirituality, ideology of death, funeral rites, etc. of the last egalitarian societies, and on the emergence of social complexity and the dominion of the rulers. It also gives insights into the expansion of Nubia and the southern Levant foreign relations, the interaction between Upper and Lower Egypt, the cultural unification of the Two Lands, and the consolidation of the Pharaonic State.
