Works
The focus of my research now consists of the last lights of the power of Rome and the processes and events which brought the Roman empires toward the abyss rather than the reasons behind the downfall of the western one, which took place in 476. A new work of mine begins by discussing the early confrontations between the Romans and barbarians and then shifts focus to the Crisis of the Third Century and the rise of Diocletian, whose reforms stabilized the state.
Afterwards, it covers the wars involving the Diarchs and Triarchs, the rise of Constantine, and the reigns of his sons. The text also discusses Julian's religious reforms and the Christian counterreformation. Its second part details the catastrophic defeat at the Battle of Adrianople and what followed, and ends with the fall of Aquileia in 452, considered as an emblematic of the decline of Rome.
